Which app do I need?
Walletap has a mobile app and a desktop app. They do different jobs, and most businesses live in one of them day to day.
Walletap runs in three places, and they are not three copies of the same thing. The dashboard in your browser is where you set the account up. The mobile and desktop apps are where the daily work happens — and which one you live in depends on what you run.
Every planThe short answer#
| You are running | Use | Because |
|---|---|---|
| Loyalty cards, coupons, gift cards | Mobile | Staff move around, and the phone is already in their hand |
| Event tickets at a door | Mobile | You need to be at the entrance, not behind a monitor |
| Memberships at a front desk | Desktop | A desk has a screen, a USB card reader and someone at it |
| Pass design for every pass type, integrations, API keys | Browser | These are set up once, on a big screen |
Mobile — iPhone, iPad and Android#
The mobile app is built for someone on their feet, and for an owner who runs the business from a phone.
It opens on Analytics for the template you work with, so the first thing you see is how the card or membership is doing. From there it scans passes with the camera, adds members, shows the sign-up QR code, sends campaigns, and keeps an eye on who came in. You can design a new loyalty card in the app, and the account owner can manage the plan and its billing there too.
A phone works with one template, or with several templates of the same type at once — two loyalty cards at one café, say. The bottom bar follows the type: a loyalty card gets a Scan button and a History of the phone's scans, a membership gets Entrances and Doors.
The app speaks 46 languages and follows the phone's language unless you pick one. See the mobile app.
Desktop — Windows#
The desktop app is built for a fixed position: a reception desk, a gym entrance, a shop counter.
It is where a USB card reader plugs in. The reader takes a tap from a phone or a plastic card, with no camera and no aiming, so a queue moves at the speed of contactless payment. See readers.
It is also where membership work is comfortable: finding a member, renewing or unfreezing a pass from the scan result, checking staff in and out, and reading the day's entrances. See the desktop app.
What both do#
- Scan a pass and show who it belongs to, or why it was refused
- Add a member and send them their pass
- Show a member's passes and recent activity
- List the account's entrances, by day and location
- Send campaigns to members
Every app is a device#
Each phone, tablet and desktop counts as a device on the account. A phone is tied to the person who signed in on it; a desktop is a shared front desk. Your plan sets how many may be active, and the owner can sign any of them out. See devices.
Getting them#
Install the mobile app from the App Store, Google Play or AppGallery. The desktop installer is on the Windows app page.
Sign in with the account you use for the dashboard. A team member signs in with the email address they were invited with, and the app shows them only what their role allows.
